Dear all floorball fans,
My profession is goalkeeper trainer in floorball. I am working in this field more than 5 years and I can see to have separated professional training is very important. Goalkeepers are very often bored from the ordinary team training. I have also seen goalies which were training only 30 minutes from the whole training. To be a goalkeeper in floorball team is individual sport in team sport. Every goalie must be singly prepared from physical, mental, technical and tactical points but also be part of the team and be accepted by whole team.

This blog is about proper training for goalkeepers in floorball. I will present specialized training for every part of body and part of game. I have divided body of the goalkeeper into the regions which you can see in picture 1. I am presenting every week region exercise which you can try in you floorball team.
Second, we will show exercises for sector C1 and C2. Position of legs is mostly individual and is typical for goalie style. But anyway there are many rules which has to be keep. One mistake or wrong habit can influence your future development in whole carier. It depends on you which position of leg is better for you but I have to say everything has rules.
Third, positioning in-goal area will be represented by sector D1 and D2. How to move in-goal area is depending mainly on your body structure (height, weight). It is logical that tall and robust goalie does not have to decrease the shoot angle like small goalie. Many goalies has problem with one weak side. It is necessary to improve all sides (D1 and D2 sector) simultaneously, to change the position of the body depending on game situation. Right position in-goal area can make your catching easier.
